My Dad had a Brick phone. I think it was a Nokia. That thing was heavy and it barely made it through the day on a battery charge, but it changed his life.
An old roommate of mine used to watch the show and fantasize about being able to enter the screen and beat up Zack, Screech and Mario Cantone in front of the girls. Didn't one of them go on to star in Showgirls?
oh, george, youre gonna be so sorry you asked. one of my many secret shames is an encyclopedic knowledge of saved by the bell.
zack morris was a fourth-wall breaking protagonist, so sometimes he would "freeze" time in order to provide insight to the audience about a given situation. it was more of an old-fashioned stage technique than a superpower (so it was distinctly different from the time-freezing powers of a character like evie from the show, "out of this world" ), as it sort of happened outside of the reality of the storyline. sometimes there would be little gags involved that blended them together, like zack would unbutton slaters shirt while time was frozen, so his action would have consequences when the scene started up again but not in any sort of remarkable way. there was one occasion, though, in the episode where they all join the glee club, in which zack actually froze time and then unfroze screech so they could do some technical things to help them cheat during their performance (they did this to help screech's girlfriend, violet m. bickerstaff, who was played by tori spelling). thats the only time when zack's time-freezing was used as a superpower, at least as far as i know, and believe me, i know.
and, yeah, elizabeth berkeley, who played jesse spano on saved by the bell, is the same chick who showed her beaver in showgirls. that performance was actually part of why the high school era of saved by the bell ended, and why she was never invited to later iterations, although i doubt she gave a shit.
HAHA! We both drew brick phones! FUNNY!
ReplyDeleteAlright, I'll shoot. Who is Zack Morris?
ReplyDeleteMain character from Saved By The Bell. Sometimes he'd freeze time and tell it like it is to the audience.
ReplyDeleteOh, the blond guy on the screech show. Was the ability to freeze time innate, or some property of his brick-like cell phone?

ReplyDeleteNever saw "Saved by the Bell."
ReplyDeleteIf I knew time travel was involved maybe I would have watched.
No...no I would have, actually...
