This is an homage to an award-winning Nina Berman photo I saw at the last Whitney Biennial - the subject is Renee Kline and her fiance Iraq War veteran Ty Ziegel who underwent fifty surgeries to recover from a suicide bomb attack that left him severely disfigured. This wedding photo speaks volumes about the heavy cost of war born by our soldiers and their families.
