Space: 1999 (featuring Maya)

Let's face it, Space: 1999 was a snooze of a show. How do you take a couple of respected actors- Martin Landau (Emmy Award nominee/future Acadamy Award winner) and his wife Barbara Bain (triple Emmy Award winner) and give them roles that make them appear as interesting as wooden puppets? Well, if the producers are Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, it's easy! You see, the Andersons had previously created various British fantasy series for children starring marionette figures.  These shows included Stingray, Fireball XL5 and Thunderbirds. Space: 1999 took place on a moonbase after our moon decided to leave earth's orbit and wander around aimlessly through space while encountering various alien lifeforms and whatnot.

Was the show really as dull as I remember? I dunno, as I haven't actually watched it since I was a kid. All I remember is by the second season they introduced a shape-changing alien named Maya. Did this improve the show? Well, if nothing else, she was more interesting to look at than the old scientist guy she replaced on the show. And because of that, I've decided to draw her!

Chimera? Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig)

As Joe Infurnari mentioned in his post earlier today, George O'Connor was showing everyone the "Baby Monkey (Going Backwards On A Pig)" video yesterday. And it's cuteness hypnotized me. So here's my tribute drawing...

That Wizard Cat Crookshanks

As anyone close to me is quite aware, my very favorite character from the Harry Potter series is Hermione's mouse-hating magical feline pet Crookshanks. When each Harry Potter volume was published, I would rush out to Walmart, buy my copy and read the entire volume in the car. Sometimes I would sit in that car for days! Of course, first I would scan the pages for any mention of Crookshanks and then read the sections where he would viciously hunt and kill a mouse, only to bring it back to life and kill it again (and again, and again and again.) Those pages were full of so much mouse blood and mouse entrails! Chapter after chapter of one mouse being killed, eaten, excreted and gloriously rejuvenated. And then cruelly tortured for what seemed like an eternity! Oh the magic of those Harry Potter books! Oh the childlike wonder of it all!

Gryffindor- (featuring the Cat from Harry Potter)

My favorite character in the Harry Potter series of books and movies was the cat that always hung around the Gryffindor house.

(Um... was there a cat in Harry Potter? I just felt like drawing a cat.)

Um... I decided to try this one in color, 'cause Conan's hair is so damned orange!

Devil Skeleton!

I've been inking in most of my Drawbridge sketches, so I figured that I'd do this one in pencil. Why? I dunno...

Oh, I set up an art blog for myself:

EXTREME Atari Pong!

1976

  • Atari’s PONG - Atari released a home version of PONG in 1976. Unfortunately, the violence inherent in this "children's game" ended up directly influencing countless adolescents to attack and murder anyone or anything that crossed their paths, be it unsuspecting parents, oblivious school friends or tiny innocent pets. PONG manufacturing was immediately discontinued and all existing games were confiscated and buried in giant landfills.
