R.I.P. Ray Harryhausen

It's 2 days late, but here it is!
His movies shaped my fantasy world when I was a child.
His retrospective in parks on summer nights would be awesome. anyone know of anything like that happening in new york?

A Mid-Autumn Night's Dream

My new short comic "A Mid-Autumn Night's Dream" is up at Act-i-Vate Comix: the online comics collective where you can check out many independent comics. I'm very excited to be part of this website, and will be uploading new comics the 15th of every month starting today! Here's a sneak peek at one of the pages. This is a 5 page self contained story about a lost man in the enchanted forest.

You can read the web comic format at http://activatecomix.com. It's currently the first one on the front page. You can also view the full page version of this comics at my deviantart site.

Happy Belated Birthday Tim!!

Tim always amazes me, I wonder if he is really human sometimes. I had a great time drawing for fun at the natural history museum with Tim, Simon, Becky and George the other day, we should do this more often! :)

Dr. Strange

My first gig at Marvel was to draw 11 pg short story of Dr. Strange. I finished drawing it at early spring of last year, and saw it being colored. Yet, it hasn't come out. I hope it doesn't fall through the crack in their archive. I really enjoyed drawing Dr. Strange even though prior to getting this gig, I've never read Dr. Strange comics before. He's tall, dark, handsome (well, at least in my head ), mysterious and has an awesome moustache! This is the character drawing I did to show my editor.

Happy Birthday Joe!!

Joe was in my dream last night. We were in the studio talking, Joe seemed like his normal self but his glasses kept on giving off this glint that made me shiver. When I woke up I couldn't tell if it was dream or real for a moment. And guess what? It's his birthday today!! :)

The Wizard day: Dumbledore

I've originally suggested today's theme to be "Dumbledore's past" for this week's harry potter marathon, but it got snuffed by HP haters/ people who doesn't know much about HP or dumbledore. But I'm sticking with Dumbledore since he IS my favorite wizard. J.K. Rowling won't probably write a prequel to HP but I would love to know more details about Dumbledore's past. I was going to draw a close up of Dumbledore as a hot young man with his "friend" Grindelwald, but that seemed a bit too easy/ over done by many fan art out there. So here it is! (I won't say who's who in this picture to avoid spoiler.)

My favorite gryffindor with a gryffin!

There are so many gryffindors in HP, it's hard to choose one, but Hermione wins over Harry and Ron for me. Even though she's annoying sometimes, she is by far the most useful character because she works hard and driven, not because she's fated to be.

Happy Birthday, George!!

Perhaps this is a better gift for girls than George. My Mars turned out to be a go go dancer. But he is a god after all, he doesn't need muscles to fight!
May the power of gods be with you, George!

Best Disney Villain Ever!

Aurora is pretty and all, but Maleficent is far more interesting! I would love to see her fight other Disney villains, I put my money on Maleficent no matter who she gets to battle!

Vertigo: Sonya from "CUBA: My Revolution"

Dean's new book "Cuba: My Revolution" has some pretty hot female characters, and I won't let the chance to draw them pass by! Although I don't know much about DC/ vertigo editors, it is sad to see people who had worked on so many different projects for so long let go. Wish them all the luck in the world! We need editors like them to continue seeing interesting and eclectic mix of comic books in the stores.
