99942 APOPHIS

I'm sorry to hear about all those people hurt in Russia. That meteor was probbaly about 10 Tonnes in weight. I don't know what it looked like, so I've decided to draw 99942 Apohis instead which weighs 27 Million Tonnes and is due for a close encounter with the planet Earth in 2036. Apophis is the object with the highest rating on the Palermo Technical Impact Hazard Scale to date , though there are a few others coming soon that might better it. Apophis is likely to be larger than the asteroid that created the  Chicxulub asteroid impact crater in Yucatan. You know the one that killed all the Dinosaurs. Sleep well folks.

Meteor strike injures hundreds in central Russia

As you may have heard, a meteor struck Russia yesterday, but lucky nobody was killed.
The ancients  knew that meteors where "Betyls, the residence of God." Who am I to argue?
Here is my depiction of God flinging yet more chaos at the Earth.... as always.

Plantagenet Park III

So now that we have the direct DNA of the Plantagenet lineage, I propose that we clone Richard III and restore him to his rightful throne. Failing that We could open an amusement park populated with cloned famous people ( that Neanderthal that everyone was talking about last week , there are large chunks of Einstein's brain lying about  etc ). Failing that I suppose there would be lucrative employment in the celebrity Pitch Advertising industry.

Any excuse to resucitate that hoary old joke.

We used to do illustrations based on themes  or current events
on Drawbridge. If we still did that, today would no doubt
involve a guy buried under a car park...

Bashar Al Assad

It's like shooting fish in a barrel this one. He already looks like some sort of pathetic victim-muppet.
I'm workoing on a Syria project. I'm thinking of doing the whole Assad family as cartoons. We'll see if that's a useful angle or not.

William Hartnell - Dr Who

So as some of you may be aware I have drawn a Dr Who comic. The reason I wanted to do it was because it featured the very first of the Doctor's many incarnation , as embodied by William Hartnell. I'm a big fan of Hartnell. The character of Dr Who was not necessarily heroic in those early days and Hartnell brought a deal of sophistication, mischievousness and darkness that I think marked the show out as something interesting and compelling. To some extent no actor who has followed him in the roll has been quite so layered and mysterious. I see that the BBC are making a 90 minute dramatisation of the creation of the Dr Who TV show back in the early 60s. Hartnell will be played by David Bradley, who is probably the best choice possible. I can't wait.
